Happy birthday to a man of distinction!

It's Wednesday, August 1, 2012, and I have plenty to write about today. It's dad's birthday and we rejoice in the Lord for His provision of this good man into our family. He's not a big fellow physically but he is a giant to us in terms of his wonderful care for mom, and in his devotion to our huge and growing blended family. No. It hasn't been an Ozzie and Harriet or Leave It to Beaver happy go lucky series over these many years. That's not to say we haven't had some wonderfully blessed times together but like all families, we have had our challenges, our times of grief, and in dealing with the uncertainties that life brings. Dad has always been there. He is a servant. He is a leader. He is a man of action. He is blessed to be able to be so active but you don't see too many fellows in their 80's that can keep up with him. They would have to have that mentality of going each day from can to can't. And, he has a way of making that can't go into the night if necessary.

I think the word tireless applies. The one theme that comes back to me each time I think about dad is what a blessing he is. Therefore, on this, his birthday, we thank God for him, and, we send him our wishes for a wonderful day. May God continue to bless he and mom as they continue their journey together. Amen.     More later.
