Happy Sweet Sixteenth Birthdays to our version of the Daily Double, our twins, Alesha and Amanda!

Alesha and Amanda on their recent Birthday Bash to New York City!
Another day for us to celebrate. This one falls on today, Wednesday, August 6, 2014, where we find ourselves thanking God for our brand new sweet sixteen twins, Alesha Camille, and Amanda Faith. These girls are so very special to us. Life has not exactly unfolded like a fairy tale for them but that's okay because we know that God has a wonderful plan for their lives as they continue their journey. Their MiMi, (the wife), will be escorting them beginning tomorrow to Galveston for a couple of days of fun and frivolity. I do hope they have a wonderful time and that they will always know that their MiMi and Poppy loves them forever and ever, Amen. That sounds like a country song. I think it might be already. Have a great 16th birthday girls and may God add His blessings to your special day. Our love, MiMi and Poppy

Summers can really be tough. That heat can get to you. Every time around these parts when we have a day with cloud cover and it's a few degrees cooler we are ready to sing and shout. Well, guess what? I just read where many folks up on the East coast, well, they are being diagnosed with a form of depression brought on by the cooler temperatures they have experienced this summer. I kid you not. In fact, they are on the verge of having the coolest summer since 2005. Wow! That's like nine years ago or something. At any rate, therapists are reporting a form of sadness brought on by the cooler weather. It seems that many folks came out of a long harsh winter with an expectation of a long hot summer and since that didn't materialize and it's now time to get the kids back in school, well, they are just having a hard time of it. I'm not mocking the folks up there but let me say this about that. If they would push some of that cooler stuff down here and I could enjoy a few days, a few weeks, or even a few months of it, I will be more than happy to take that kind of situation off their hands.

I remember as a kid when I got out of sorts and was down in the mouth, my grandfather used to tell me that I had the same clothes to get glad in. And, yes, I do realize that different people deal with different things in different ways. I just have a hard time seeing where not being able to fry an egg on the sidewalk everyday would be a reason to get down and out about it. But, I'm sure they would like to get me on one of those couches too. No telling what they would have to say about me. Talk about reality TV. Move over Duck Dynasty. They might come up with a psychological reason for why I so much love those little Atomic FireBall candy pieces. Mom had some of the miniature ones in a little dish and I tried one, then another, and finally, one more just for the fun of it. On our way home we stopped to get gas and I saw those little packages on the rack, two for $1.50. I know. Diabetic. I will just have to use them in moderation. I do like me some cinnamon flavor, although these little dudes have to be artificial since that main ingredient is not even listed on the package. (I could most likely get depressed about that but I'll pretend they have lots of cinnamon in them and keep on trucking.) I used to buy the larger ones in the commercial sized containers at Sam's. Those big ones could be so hot at times I had to take it out of my mouth to catch my breath. For those wanting to know, the little guys have 20 calories each, and yes, they do come with sugar and carbs. Here's a helpful tip: They do go well with Community Coffee. I'm sure there's some character traits that have been identified for those who crave hot cinnamon candy, but, I think I'll just enjoy them from time to time and take my chances. See? There you were thinking my life was oh so simple. Think again Bucko! Until next time, may our Great God add His blessings to each one. Amen.  ...More later.
