Happy Birthday to our Mom, surely a woman of grace, honor, and distinction!

Good Friday morning to one and all. I do hope this greeting finds you well today. It is May 3, 2013, a super important day to us as I rise to salute my dear mom, on the 89th anniversary of her birth. She is one of those persons that many call "The Greatest Generation" having lived over 75 years in the last century. She knows what it means to live in very scarce times. She remembers as a child the Great Depression. She was an up close and personal eyewitness to World War II, seeing her husband and brothers serve in harm's way. She would later see her son, my brother who died in 2011, a career United States Marine, serve during the Vietnam conflict. She gave the gift of life to us six children and has had to bid farewell to three who have gone on to their reward. She certainly knows what it means to suffer loss, in fact, she is recognized for her grace under fire by people far and wide who know the many challenges she has faced in her life. The bottom line for us, however, is just this: She's our mom and we thank God every single day to still be able to talk to her and to have her love and encouragement to help us in the life God has given through her to us. Have a great 89th birthday mom from all of us that make up the Abbott clan in this area. May God continue to bless you and dad is our prayer. Amen. (Thanks to my sister JoAnn for the younger mom photo. Beautiful then. Beautiful now.)

By the time most of you read this, Marilyn and I should be well on our way to Louisiana, (don't try to find Louisiana in the Bible just because some people call it the promised land), where we hope to spend a day of visiting and honoring our sweet mom. It will be our privilege. I do pray that you and yours will have a good Saturday and Lord's Day Sunday. May God bless us all until we meet again. Amen.   ....More later.
