Here we find a really old and corny one: What do you call a bunch of chess players bragging about their games in a hotel lobby? Chess nuts boasting in an open foyer!

Well, well, we almost didn't have to dream about a white Christmas yesterday morning. That's right. We had us one of those postcard-perfect frosty mornings. Huge frost. The photo was taken around 7:30 a.m. and it was still nice and cool. I think we squeezed out a low of 29 before it was all said and done. It was good we took steps to protect the wife's plants because they would have not made it. Mr. Bentley still enjoyed his ride around the neighborhood with his head hung out the side window of the old pickup truck, (just 800 miles from hitting the 200,000-mile mark). It took about 10 minutes for the defroster to clear the ice off the windshield on the truck. But, today is Wednesday, December 2, 2020, and we move on with the understanding that if you didn't like the cold air, hang on, we just might be back in summer attire before you know it. Yep. We've celebrated a number of Christmases wearing short sleeves. We had a neighbor for several years who moved here from upstate New York. He felt like he was in a dreamworld in this area because he no longer had to clear over six feet of snow to get out of his driveway. It just goes to show you. One person's view of a perfect snowy Christmas is nothing more to the other fellow than a reminder of blistered hands from holding on to a shovel. Life is like that. Feel free to provide your own metaphor. Here's one: I tell people I am a high mileage vehicle and now I can testify that I also drive one, with a lot of wear and tear on both.

Bentley here, "They bring a tree into the house, put it in one of my favorite spots, then they tell me not to go near it. Really?"

Our very own wise men (wise guys): Chris, Rodney, and Jimmy.

Christmas is special because of what it means to all humanity in terms of God's keeping of His promise to send one who would be victorious on our behalf over evil and the evil one. (Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.") That is often thought of as the first rendition of the Gospel and it goes all the way back to Genesis. Another thing that makes Christmas special is our remembering of so many celebrations with so many of our beloved ones. Many of them have gone on to their eternal reward but at this time of year, we can recall their laughter, their smiles, and how blessed we were to have them in our lives. I quickly add that I am aware of many who struggle during the holidays due to past hurts and the emotional distress they have to deal with. All of us have sad memories but for those blessed to have precious memories too, well, we should thank God and do our best to encourage others. I'll leave us all to think on these things as we do our best with God's help and provision to have a productive day. May He add His blessings. Amen. ......More later.
