Still feasting! How about you?

Welcome back to this Monday, the first day of December 2008. I'm still feasting on my Thanksgiving Day celebration. We had one of the best ever! They tell me that I say this every year but I couldn't be more pleased with this expression of the great day God gave to our family once again. We met, we prayed, we ate, we laughed, talked, and then talked some more. We ate again, the kids played and played and when we left we all hugged and knew that God had blessed in a remarkable way. Ten of the reasons this was such a great time of blessing are sitting on the stairs. Starting at the top from left to right we find Brittany, Tiffany, Stefani, Amanda, Lexie, Alesha, Kyleigh, Jimmy Jr., Brady, and Alex. We thank God and hope you also had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration.

Now we enter the Christmas season where we turn our thoughts to God's great gift to the world in the sending of His One and Only Son into His created world to save His created human beings. That's a message we can all be thankful for! I am aware that there is absolutely nothing in the Scriptures about setting aside a particular date to recognize or celebrate the birth of our Lord. We do honor His resurrection each and every first day of the week when we meet together as a local fellowship of believers. This is the pattern of the New Testament Church. We also are instructed to remember His death for us when we partake of the Lord's Supper or communion as it is called. Therefore, we would do well to always remember that His coming as a virgin born child was only the beginning of why He came. Essentially, He came to do what we could not do for ourselves and that's why we can celebrate Christmas because we are blessed to not only know the rest of the story but to be a recipient of His salvation. I do wish you a most wonderful day and send along a prayer of blessing on you and yours. May God bless. Amen. ......More later.Posted by Picasa
