One short of a dozen reasons why Poppy is called Poppy!

It is Thursday, October 16, 2008 and I am counting the days until our entire crew can be together again. It was way before the hurricane when we last all met and it has been way too long for Poppy. The Bible says that children are a blessing from God and a man who has his quiver full is blessed indeed. That quiver by the way is what they used to put arrows in and I’m very thankful that we have a whole bunch of arrows in our quiver but it helps to be able to see them, touch them, and spend time with them now and then. The same goes for seeing my mom and dad. We were able to be with them for a day back in August but that’s also too long since we’ve been able to meet face to face. In our use of time priorities matter and family should be one of our top ones following right after our devotion and service to God.

We have seen some of our bunch here and there but not all of them together. Our daughter-in-law sent us a photo of our little Brady wearing his Spiderman outfit. What a little dude! They tell us that he tried it on for Halloween but does not want to take it off. Knowing him, he no doubt believes he is Spiderman when he wears that outfit. It’s that kind of foolishness that thrills us as grandparents but how much more special to be able to have him in his Spiderman outfit sitting in my lap! The other day we ran by our middle son’s place and saw them for a few minutes. Our little Alex was taking his nap and never knew we had come by. His dad said that when it came time for his nap, he went in and took a bath, put on his underpants, turned on a cartoon, and climbed up into his bed for sleepy time. Now that may not mean much to you but to us old folks, it’s this kind of story about a three year old that makes our day. (Little Alex did come with his MiMi for lunch here at my workplace yesterday and I finally got to see him up close and personal. He had a ball and I let him sit in the driver’s seat of one of the forklifts. He said he was just like Bob the builder. God is good all the time, all the time God is good.)

Yeah, we can be slightly hopeless when it comes to our offspring and their offspring but we are not alone. We notice how silly others are as they go on and on about their grand kids. It’s really good that we’ve learned to be so reserved and refined in how we view that same subject. Come to think about it I’ve seen folk’s eyes begin to roll back in their head when I droned on and on about little Brady or Alex, our Lexie, Alesha, Amanda, Jimmy Jr., Kyleigh, Stefani, Brittany, Danielle, and Tiffany. When it comes to grand kids they need to be wearing their game face when they deal with me! Maybe the problem is that folks that have only a few arrows tend to try and make up for it in their stories. All I know is, it has become time for this Poppy to have some face time with all our group, if for no other reason than to get me some brand new stuff to put people to sleep with! You can be sure I will do my very best to capture it all and you can look forward to reading some of it in a blog coming soon to an email near you! I can tell you are so excited. Me too! Have a great day and may God bless us all! Amen. …..More later.
