“I have opinions of my own - strong opinions - but I don't always agree with them.” ~ George H.W. Bush

Another day has come and gone and now we move on to Friday, September 7, 2018. Thanks for taking the time to visit with me for a few minutes. *** OPINION ALERT *** I have tried to watch some of the hearings being held on the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court. His educational and judicial credentials are impeccable. However, the far left in our country has determined to oppose him, period. In fact, they began planning their opposition before he was named. Their planning efforts included a blank on their documentation. They didn't care who it would be, they were opposed, regardless. The hearings thus far have been one of disruption time and time again. Protesters? Yes. Their presence at the hearing is also coordinated even down to which ones should put themselves in a position to be arrested on which day. That, unfortunately, is not the only disruption taking place. The Democrat Senators, especially those who are thinking about a run for the Presidency, well, they have attempted to one-up each other with some of the most slanderous and preposterous claims one could imagine. If they don't do that they have to answer to the moneyed folks behind these shenanigans. These folks have become robotic in their group-think presentation of what they believe. For the most part, they read from a text set forth by the radicalized party leaders and they can not deviate one iota or one comma from what they have been told to say. Pretty sad, if you ask me. That's what people will be getting from this socialist bent movement who oppose President Trump and any and all things conservative. You didn't ask what I thought but I shared it with you anyway.

For Flashback Friday, I've selected the following snippet from my blog published on September 7, 2007. ~ Some twenty-five years ago I was a younger teacher of God’s word than I am today. I taught an adult class in a small mission Church. Since we were a smaller congregation, my class, pretty much covered all age groups within the adult category. I’m blessed to say that a few of those in my class then or still in my class today! Wow! But back then I had a number of elderly ladies in my class who were my most ardent supporters. They would always tell me they were praying for me during the week. They would comment on how the lessons had helped them in their lives. One was a widow whose husband had been a pastor for nearly fifty years. She would always tell me that I was the only one who came close to handling God’s word as her husband did, and she considered him to be a great Bible teacher. Yes, these compliments could have caused pride to swell up in me or they could have caused me to work harder and study more. It is easy for any of us to allow encouraging comments to make us feel like we are really somebody but on the other hand, they can and often do fuel our development and help us to grow into that which God desires us to be. I cannot say that I never got full of myself but looking back I do know that for the most part I was humbled by their love and support and challenged to work harder. ~ (We are no longer in that local fellowship that we were a part of for over 30 years, but, I am so thankful for those there who encouraged me to grow as a teacher of God's Word.)

I close today with this word. One of the things that one learns as they age has to do with unlearning some things and also recognizing what you don't know. I remember a long time ago hearing the wonderful Bible preacher, the late Dr. J. Vernon McGee saying how that when he was a young well educated Bible scholar he thought he pretty much knew everything there was to know about God and His Word. As he closed in on the final phase of his life, having preached and taught God's Word for the entirety of his life he pronounced that he would go to meet His Savior having not even scratched the surface of all the wonders of the truths in God's Word. I get that! We are currently studying creation in our Sunday morning Bible study. I can remember earlier in my life when I devoted a lot of time in pursuing all the creation science literature. I read books. I watched the videos. Today, while I have no problem with those who dedicate themselves to these types of endeavors, I have a different perspective. Here's what I have concluded about what God chose to reveal about creation: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Hebrews Chapter 11, Verses 1-3) By faith. In God. Amen. Okay. Now it is on to Saturday to finish out our week and then on to the first day of next week, Lord's Day Sunday. May He find us faithful is my prayer. Amen. ....More later.
