That's The Way The Ball Bounces!

Okay, so the doctor doesn’t always do exactly what you want him to. He has sworn himself to uphold that hypocritical oath or something like that. But we are making progress and we did get some different medications that will have fewer side effects, we hope. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but that’s the way the ball bounces sometimes. In case you are interested that little tidbit is listed as follows on the ClichéSite.com website:

Cliché: That's the way the ball bounces
Often used when someone has decided to accept outcome of a situation, this cliché is used to explain the idea that there are some things that we cannot control and once they have happened, we have to live with the results.

Now I will have to wait until mid January 2008 to take another shot at convincing my medical advisor on a different approach. That will work out really well since I only have the major eating holidays between now and that date. Last year at this time I would have been drooling just thinking about the feasting that lay on the horizon. Now it’s more about the 14 hour fasting required for the next set of blood draws. But that’s okay, have another carrot and enjoy your new culinary adventures.

My grandfather used to tell my mom that if I didn’t stay out of the garden we wouldn’t make a crop since I greatly enjoyed eating nearly everything raw, right off the plant or vine, including peas, beans, tomatoes, melons, strawberries, and even fresh new potatoes, dug up, cleaned off, and eaten on the spot. Who would have ever thought that fifty years later that great boomerang of life would come sailing back around and now what I used to eat by choice has been more or less dictated. The more things change the more they stay the same. In case you are interested that little tidbit is listed as follows on the ClichéSite.com website:

Cliché: The More things change, the more they stay the same

What seems like a big difference turns out to be the same as it ever was. No matter what new things come along, there are some truths that will never change.

You end up finding out that things are not always what they appear to be. You think you are doing well but there’s these little gremlins at work inside of you who are very committed to their craft. They labor night and day to slowly but surely bring you trouble. Okay, I didn’t do that well in biology so forgive the less than technical explanation. In the end you find out that for years, without really knowing it, you have been skating on thin ice. In case you are interested that little tidbit is listed as follows on the ClichéSite.com website:

Cliché:To skate on thin ice
To risk failure, danger or trouble. To argue from a position that lacks strength. When moving quickly over thin ice, you will not fall through. If you stumble or slow down too much, you risk the ice breaking and falling in.

Okay enough already. I can’t complain because I’ve been blessed beyond measure and even these slight inconveniences are blips on a life filled with God’s caring provision, in spite of all I’ve tried to do to make a mess out of things. The children’s song says: Rise and shine and give God the glory; Rise and shine and give God the glory; Rise and shine and give God the glory; Children of the Lord. Amen, hallelujah, praise His Name. …More later.
