Remembering to be thankful for those who have touched my life. Amen.

This is the one I had up this morning. It reminds me of the one Paw Paw had in his den.

Good morning and welcome. It's Thanksgiving Day Eve, Wednesday, November 25, 2020, and, I bid you a warm greeting along with a prayer for us all. Today is my sister, Frances' birthday. Sadly, she is confined to a nursing facility, and due to COVID, very isolated at this time. She hits 77 today. Her birthday reminds me of a lot of memories over these many years of sojourn here on the planet. I was up a little after 4 a.m. this morning. I begin thinking about so many who have touched my life over the years. I put up the burning fireplace from YouTube and called up the song, "When I get to where I'm going" on my phone. I first heard that song by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton at the memorial service for Frances' son Andy, back in January of 2008. It is a nostalgic tune where heaven is envisioned along with meeting up with those who have gone on to their reward. Since hearing it for the first time, I've listened to it and watched the accompanying video dozens of times. Thanksgiving is a good time to remember and dwell on those who have been a blessing over the years. That's what I was doing early on this drizzly morning. Thinking about so many who have gone on, well, that always brings tears but many of them prompt tears of joy and anticipation as I know I will see them again. You can easily find that song by searching for it on YouTube. Here are the lyrics.

When I Get to Where I'm Going

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
And then I'll hug his neck
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do
But when I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace

Yeah when I get where I'm going
Oh when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
