I didn't need Ancestry.com to know a lot about Granny and Paw Paw Mac.

Granny and Paw Paw Mac.
Here we go again, we get up, grab a cup of Community Coffee, say a prayer, and get on with the day the Lord has given to us. Today is Thursday, September 5, 2019, and it is the day we have always paused to remember our legendary Granny Mac, born on this day in 1903. She went to her reward back in the Spring of 1983, but, those in the family who are left, which now are the grands, the great grands, great great, and beyond, well, many of us carry a small part of her legacy each and every day. She had that kind of impact on her family. Someone of modest means and with only a basic education, yet, she became a voracious reader throughout her time here on the planet. She loved inspirational books, commentaries, and other devotional types of Bible studies. When she passed on she left stacks of books that had been given to her over the years, typically on her birthday, Christmas, Mothers Day, or some other special day of recognition. Each one had the name of the giver inscribed in her own hand so they could be returned after her passing. In some ways, she was easy to buy for because she always loved the latest Billy Graham book, Dale Evans, and others of that ilk. I can't really go further than to say she had a hand in raising not only her 7 but also had hands-on for dozens of us grands and great grands. The hands-on is just what it implies, figuratively, and literally. An iconic woman of faith and duty, a renown cook, a wife devoted to our Paw Paw, and, someone who loved to hug, hold, and laugh with her offspring. Even today, so many years later, I can almost hear her voice. It was a lovely voice. That is, unless, she was calling you with a belt in one
hand.

We did go and see the movie 'Overcomer' yesterday. It opened last Friday and ran away with the weekend with opening day revenues right at $13 million and its closest competitor at $2.9 million. The Kendrick Brothers are known for their inspirational movies. This one is no exception. The division of Sony that made the film is called Affirm. You can bet Sony is not into these types of movies because of their spiritual message. There is money to be made in this genre. I would not say the acting was the best I had ever seen. The production values were excellent. The story was really compelling. And, for believers who are really into tearjerkers, it touched every base, multiple times. Good story. Great message. And, yes, I recommend any and all people of faith to go and see it. Will it do any crossover business into the secular world? I rather doubt it, but, I will say there's certainly enough of the Gospel shared for someone to hear, respond, and receive Jesus as their Savior. I recently saw a statistic on the buying power of what is called faith-driven consumers. That particular research said this segment of the population had around $2 trillion dollars annually in terms of purchased goods and services. No wonder folks are taking note. And, that's a good thing. Amen.

As for the general movie experience itself, we've all learned the routine. We went to the first showing. It's called the early bird and Seniors are only charged $6.50 per ticket. That's very reasonable. Once inside we made our way to the concession stand. They had some specials going. The first value special was for a large popcorn and large coke. That's what we always get and then we share this together. She then rang it up. (No real ringing since the register is one of those electronic units.) The price? Wait for it. Wait for it. $13.85 plus tax. I'm not complaining, just sharing. They are in the business to make money. Based on those in the audience, nearly everyone we saw qualified for the early bird discount. It was somewhat similar to being in most Church services today. Lot's of gray and lots of white. I'm really thankful the leaders at our local fellowship see the need to reach out to younger couples, teens, and, children. (Our pastor's motto is: We want to reach every person Jesus died for.) We are called to hand down our faith to the next generation. (New Testament writing of Jude) We will not be able to do that if there are no next generations in line to receive the baton. I think you get my drift here. Okay. I'm done now. Enjoy your day. Take time to remember to remember to thank God for His love and provision. Amen. ....More later.
