Good morning and welcome to another edition, coming to you live and in-person from the ole blogger ranch here on this
Tuesday, November 10, 2020. It was live and in-person when I was sitting at the laptop pecking away. No doubt a whole lot will have changed even before I finish today's visit. That's how it goes in the world. It probably has always gone that way but before technology became instantaneous, we just didn't know about it right away. Today everything is front and center and it is known in realtime. I think we are supposed to agree this is a good thing, but, I'm not altogether sure the conditioning it does to us as a people works for our benefit. I am in contact with missionaries from different locations in the world. Some deal with very remote people groups. These people are yet to experience the modern world as we know it. Often they live in poverty and have many other disadvantages, however, they often come across as being at peace with their situation, and dare I say, they seem happy. We noticed this about folks we saw in Mexico many years ago. The poor children were oblivious to their plight and appeared to be having a wonderful time, making do with whatever they could find to play with. In our world, we get depressed if we don't have the latest, greatest cellphone so we can be made aware of our misery 24x7. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, just making an observation.
Even with all of this news at our beck and call, I am not up to date on the current political stuff going on. I see the frenzied postings of my friends on Facebook and I check headlines now and then, but, I have pretty much taken a pass on trying to know everything about the current Presidential transition and all of the machinations currently underway. I do see many starting petitions of all kinds to try and get some department to do something to change what is the projected outcome. Some time ago, I read that internet petitions typically go nowhere and accomplish nothing. Maybe they do some good for those who originate them and for those who sign on to them. For me, I have a lot of fatigue when it comes to our current political climate. One ardent Trump supporter had these thoughts about the election. I thought it was pretty much on target. "At the end of the day, Trump has only himself to blame. His caustic personality and bombastic rhetoric were overlooked when everything was going well, but, in the midst of the pandemic and business shutdowns and all the other stuff, well, he gave the other side too much ammunition to use against him." That's not his verbatim quote but it is the gist of what he said. I tend to agree with this sentiment. You can form your own conclusion, but, be careful, I hear the liberal folks are taking names. It's a joke.
If it's true that being a born again child of God is the greatest blessing that can ever be had, then, we, who are believers should continue to be awed by all that God has done for us. Too often we fail to appreciate the value of our salvation and the benefits and promises that are ours. Here is a great reminder for us all:
Psalm 103 King James Version
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Amen and Amen. ....More later.
