Okay. Good morning and welcome. Today is
Tuesday, December 16, 2025 and we are right smack dab in the middle of Christmas spirit swirling all around us. Well, maybe not that much swirling, but, I will confess I am a sucker for Christmastime with all comes with it. I continue to make clear to all concerned that I am not in the least bit uninformed about the Real Reason for the Season, the coming into our world as a baby born to a virgin, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love all that relates to His coming, His life, His death, His resurrection, and, all that it means to those who respond to His offer of salvation that entitles one to live forever with Him in eternity future which begins when we are saved. Having made that clear, I also love the feeling of Christmas, the songs of Christmas, the chatter, even, the busyness that comes with getting ready to get ready. As for the music, wow! There's so much and I do love me some Christmas music. Some might think that since I am a professional Christmas entertainer, aka Santa, that's the reason I love this time of year. Not really. I loved Christmas long before I became Santa. I grew up, not always having a lot of stuff on Christmas Day, but, always and I mean always having it be a special time for our family. My mom actually did what that silly song says, "When you work your fingers to the bone what do you get? Bony fingers!" She did. She worked tirelessly because she wanted us to always know that Christmas was special and it always was. Back to the music. Many years ago I became a big fan of Eddy Arnold. He was a country music/easy listening singer, and, perhaps, one of, if not the, best of his time. Born in 1918, he began his music career on radio in the mid-1930's and recorded his last album in 2005 at age 87 just three years before his passing in 2008. Never heard of him? Yikes. What a shame. At one time I probably had at least 12 of his long play vinyl records which was only a fraction of those available. He recorded literally 100's of songs with 147 that charted. But, back to Christmas. I love his version of this song. In fact, I always desire to hear it as part of my remembrance. You can listen to it on YouTube.
Christmas Can't Be Far Away - Eddy Arnold, 1954
A neighbor tipped his hat to me this morning
The landlord even smiled and said, "good day"
And I want you to know a stranger said hello
Christmas can't be far away
Old tight wad down the street is buying candy
To pass out to the neighbor kids at play
The town is on the go
The weather man said snow
Christmas can't be far away
The small fry on our block have all been saving
And now they're hiding things and looking sly
Mom will get that special she's been craving
And dad'll get his usual Christmas tie
Both young and old are planning sweet surprises
They'll soon be tied with ribbons bright and gay
Good will is in the air, you'll feel it everywhere
Christmas can't be far away
Christmas can't be far away
Songwriters: Wayne Lamar Jackson / Roger Cook

Now back to the other things that keep us all occupied. You have your stuff and we have ours, but, somehow we all have our schedules full. With what? I do still have a blog to write about how we've all become so busy, and, there are reasons for it. I'll get that done one day when I get around to it. I do hope you have a great rest of today and always remember to remember how God is our provision, period, end of story.
Amen.
