"The best way to get something done is to begin." ~ copied

Today. It is Thursday, July 10, 2025, and, to be honest, it's the only one we can deal with at this time. Today. Let's do our best to get out there and git-r-done. Those are some pretty encouraging words of motivation coming from a proven champion of procrastination. According to many of those who observe and closely watch after me, well, they think I should have reached legendary standing in this category. I started to say category of performance but that doesn't really fit since it follows the old adage of not doing anything today that can be postponed until tomorrow. I exaggerate some here but I do know there must be some truth to it since I do hear about it quite often. I do at times ask for the hearing about it to be postponed until a better time, but, I think I get the picture and so do you. ~ I thought about putting together a rule book for procrastination but I haven't gotten past the first page, yet. ~ One of these days when I get around to it I'm going to read a book about how to not procrastinate. ~ When I feel an urge to procrastinate I typically just put off thinking about it. ~ I heard they held a conference for those prone to procrastination, sadly no one showed up. ~ I sometimes feel bad knowing the best time to have planted that tree was 20 years ago. ~ When it is all said and done I find myself squarely achieving mostly the said portion of that statement. ~ If putting it off until tomorrow puts too much pressure on you, try using a long range planning calendar instead. ~ I've heard the cost of procrastination can be seen in never having lived the life you could have, however, I'll think about that later. ~ I hope you enjoy my little thoughts about procrastination because I worked on it for some time. Time I could have been using for something much more productive. Okay. I am joking here but it is an issue I do personally have to deal with, therefore, I thought I would throw it out there for any and all to consider. The bottom line is this: Procrastination is not good. I should know.

I am, however, pretty doggone good as a last minute kind of guy. I should have done it already but look what I can get done right at the buzzer. I will give a caveat to my procrastination inclination. I tend to never procrastinate when it comes to my Bible study and Bible lesson preparation. And, that priority in the use of my time is rarely compromised. I haven't come up with any type of ailment that I can blame my behaviors on other than my sin nature. There you go. Wait a minute. Doesn't the Bible tell us that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world? (1st John 4:4) Yikes. But the Apostle Paul also tells us that we are in a battle with our old man nature, the flesh itself. The good news is after having confessed the issues that occur when we yield to our old man nature, Paul ends up giving us all the way we can overcome and be victorious. Get up earlier each day and pray more? That might help but the victory can only be found in and through our yielding ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is found in Romans Chapter 7. When you read it, pay attention to verse 25 because it does provide the way victory can be experienced. Well, I'm pretty tired right now. I think I will make a list of things I need to do and then take a nap. How about you? Until next time, may God bless us all is my prayer. Amen
