"The best news of the Christian gospel is that the supremely glorious Creator of the universe has acted in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection to remove every obstacle between us and himself so that we may find everlasting joy in seeing and savoring his infinite beauty. " - John Piper

Good morning y'all who are, perhaps by default, a part of the blogosphere which floats here and there and everywhere on the world wide web, www. It's Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and I send out a hearty hello from my place to yours. I'm not a huge follower of John Piper, pastor and preacher, but, I liked the truth and the wordiness of his quote and that's why I used it as my title today. Truth is, the Gospel is life changing for those who hear and respond by repenting of their sins and putting their faith and trust in Jesus the Christ and His finished work on behalf of the people of our God-created world. (God so loved.) I am thankful to God that He saw fit to equip me to teach His Holy Word. That is a privilege and He deserves any and all the glory. Why? Simply this, if God gives anyone a gift which enables them to accomplish the results of that gift, the Originator of the Gift deserves the honor, period. This is what the Apostle Paul told the members of the called out assembly meeting in Corinth, Greece, when they were fussing and fighting about their God given gifts. You know. The typical who's the head and who's the tail kinds of human conceit. Here's what he said, "For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?" (1st Corinthians 4:7) Ouch! In other words, if you received and are able to exercise a gift that was given to you by God, how in the world could any of us take credit for it? Yet, anyone can easily do just that when we end up seeking the applause of others instead of doing all that we do for the honor and glory of God. I need to be reminded of this. That's likely why I wrote about it. But, if the shoe fits....

Many are decrying the chaos brought on by our newly elected administration. Back in my early working sojourn, in the mid to late 1960's, I worked for the United States Air Force at England Air Force Base, Alexandria, Louisiana. I transferred from there to the nearby 512 bed Veterans Administration Hospital. After 18 months, I became an administrative assistant in the Public Affairs Office at Fort Polk, Louisiana. And, since I did in fact achieve permanent standing as a federal civil service employee, I can speak to my own observations as to why chaos is needed to address and deal with a thoroughly wasteful environment. It pretty much is ingrained. Every one who takes office as President says they are going to address the bureaucracy within our governmental system, but, not too many have ever been able to penetrate the Iron Dome which essentially allows this pernicious waste to insulate and protect itself. I could give you many examples of the waste I observed as a nobody in the system. That would only be a twinkle, twinkle little star in the galaxy of institutional waste and mismanagement. My opinion. Therefore, I say shake it, brother, shake it! Maybe, just maybe, some inroads will be achieved where veterans get real services provided instead of the so called service providers serving overhead and red tape as a priority instead. Maybe, just maybe, departments and divisions will not spend excess funds just to keep up their budget authority instead of actually needing the items being purchased. And, maybe just maybe, we, the America loving tax paying ordinary citizen will begin to not only hear about radical change but we will see the results. It will not be easy, but, I, for one, believe it is worth it. Bring on the chaos!

Sorry about that little rant, but, the Supreme Court often throws out cases because they rule the plaintiff does not have standing. In the area of wasteful spending on the part of our government, I do, you do, we all have standing. Just so you know. I could go on. But, you knew that already, right? The good news: God is still on His throne. He has say over it all. He does. He really does. May God bless us all as we continue our journey here on the planet. Amen.
