Yeah. It's me. Again. Today I bring you greetings on this Monday, March 7, 2025. Here in our domicile we are busying ourselves getting ready to get ready for our local Church's annual ladies banquet coming up this Thursday evening. My wife is decorating her table for eight. They are expecting over 500 to attend. We are expecting two to come from out of town, the wife's sister and her dear friend. I am to be the server for her table.. Our approach is to do our best to resemble a waiter but one who has to take it slow and easy. I have nightmares about stumbling and seeing food fly everywhere. The wife will decorate her table with a Springtime theme. I have served as a waiter several times and I thank God I haven't spilled anything yet. (I know, there's still time. Thanks for reminding me.) I've never seen so many elderly men baby stepping their way forth and back to serve water, ice tea, the salad course, the main course, and dessert and coffee. It reminds me how wait staff work is not that easy. We typically eat at a restaurant at least once or twice per week. And, this experience reaffirms my commitment to tip generously those who do this work for a living. I do draw the line on places where you serve yourself, or order and pickup your own food. They actually solicit tips via a notice on the cash register. Maybe I don't understand what's going on, but, that's not one I feel a need to honor. What about you?
I wrote about this the other day but it is still a hotbed issue. Just wait and see. That's my recommendation to those losing their ever loving minds over the turmoil resulting from the change in tariffs on those importing goods and services into the United States of America. It's interesting how this entire program is being billed as a trade war instigated by President Trump when the countries importing to us are the ones with long established tariffs on us. That's why they are called reciprocal tariffs. Let's see how it all unfolds. When you read the details of all the tariffs being put on our goods and services, well, it causes some of us to have this response, "Well, it's about time!" In an odd way it reminds me of when Jesus spoke truth to some Pharisees and his disciples chided him for offending those who appear to be super religious. Year after year all these countries have been taking advantage of our nation and finally someone said enough is enough. These countries not only have tariffs but many also have artificial barriers that prohibit our goods coming into their countries. Yet when we act to level the playing field the narrative being postulated is one that says we are creating havoc in the world. The mainstream media and the majority in the opposition parties are so absolutely contaminated by the virus known as TDS or Trump Derangement Syndrome they can't help but join the rest of the world in condemning anything our President does. Anything. Anything. It may all go South but in my opinion it's worth doing something. Something. Something. Okay. I think you at least know where I'm coming from. You feel free to come at it anyway you choose. After all, we can do that because this is America.
Whew, I now think I need to take a nap. Ha! If you can't think of anything to be thankful for today, consider "common grace" in how it refers to God's general favor and blessings bestowed upon all people, regardless of their faith or relationship with God, enveloping things like the beauty of nature, the opportunity to learn, and the preservation of human life. Whew again! That, my friend, is a biggie! I'll let you chew on that one for a while and catch back up with you next time. Until then, may God add His blessings to us all. Amen.
