It is Tuesday, October 6, 2009 and I am very glad to be here as an observer on duty with my observations passed on through my way of seeing things, hence: The View from Here. y three sons met on the far side of the sprawling metroplex to have lunch together in celebration of our eldest son’s birthday. We had a great time. Secondly, my wife did come home but she limped back in feeling very poorly. I predicted this predicament based on my nearly 50 years of wife-ology specializing in this one particular wife from my youth. She did go to the doctor and they are treating her for a case of severe bronchitis. For the good of us all we pray for a speedy recovery.No one could have believed that Chicago would have lost out in the first round of voting for the 2016 Olympics. After all, we had, (by their own admission), the A-Team there in Copenhagen, Denmark. President and Mrs. Obama, Oprah, the city officials from Chicago, and numerous American athletes showed up to lobby for having the games in one of our most distressed and corrupt cities. The air was charged with glitz, glamour, and celebrity brilliance. However, the world totally rejected all of this grandstanding without explanation or fanfare and the entire entourage returned to begin a vigorous campaign of finding someone to blame. ion knows much about, the Blame Game. However, it is very difficult to make up for this catastrophic public relations failure. Before the President’s plane landed many in the media were already busy trying to spin this disaster in a way that exonerated their man in the White House.Of course while we were spending millions getting the Obamas to and from this debacle in Denmark, additional troops were being shot and killed in Afghanistan. The health care debate continued at a fevered pitch and the U. S. economy reeled like a drunken sailor. Someone, somewhere missed it completely on where the vote was in Denmark or a sitting President would have never traveled to face such a resounding repudiation.
